Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak rahimahullah had a Jewish neighbour. This Jewish neighbour wanted to sell his house. Someone asked him: “How much do you want for it?”
He replied: “Two thousand.”
The person said to him “Its value is only one thousand.”
The Jew replied: “You are right. However, I want one thousand for the house and one thousand for being the neighbour of ‘Abdullãh.
When Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak rahimahullah was informed of this, he called the Jew, gave him the money for the house and said to him: “Do not sell it.”
