Shahr Bin Hawshab said: I asked Umm Salamah Radhiallaahu Anhaa what was the du’aa that Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam used to make the most when he (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) was by her.

She said: The du’aa he (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) used to make the most was: Yaa Muqallibal Quloob Thabbit Qalbee ‘alaa Deenik…..

(At-Tirmidhi)

Oh turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.

`Umar bin `Abd al-`Azeez said:

“He who acts without knowledge causes more corruption than good, and he who does not consider his speech to be part of his actions sins repeatedly. Then he recited the following verse:

“Surely the patient will be paid their wages in full without reckoning.” [39:10]

إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

“Islam has been built upon five things – on testifying that there is no god save Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger; on performing salah; on giving the zakah; on Hajj to the House; and on fasting during Ramadhan.”

[Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

“Do not feel secure from death at any time:
Even if you seek protection
in your advisers and your gaurds,
know that the arrows of death
are always pointing in our direction,
whatever armour and shields we may have.
Do you hope for forgiveness
when you have not trodden its paths?
A ship does not sail on dry land.”

-Abu’l-‘Atahiyyah
